They say everybody has a doppelganger somewhere. But how many of us actually meet our double–let alone look so similar that our own parents can’t tell us apart?
Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain could be identical twins. The redheads have strikingly similar features, including their trademark red hair. It’s been a running joke in Hollywood that the actresses look so much alike, but Jessica recently confessed that Bryce’s dad once mistook her for his own daughter!
While doing press for Dark Phoenix (along with Game of Thrones queen–and recent Mrs. Jonas–Sophie Turner), Jessica said:
“I was at the Apple store and Ron Howard was there, and I was like walking by and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s Ron Howard.’ My friend [who] was with me said [Ron] turned to someone and he goes, ‘I think I just saw Bryce.’ … I mean it was brief, I literally walked by and he was like, ‘I think I saw Bryce.’ … We look so much alike.”
It’s so bad that even Jessica herself can’t always tell them apart in photographs. She remembers early in her career, when she was thumbing through a magazine and thought that she’d seen a picture of herself.
“Before even my career took off, I remember one time being in the subway, I was like, looking at … a magazine and there was a picture of her, and I looked at the picture and I was like, ‘What am I doing in this magazine?’” she said of her doppelganger. “I actually had that thought.”
Bryce 4 years younger and is 3 inches taller than Jessica. She’s the star of the new Jurassic Park movies alongside Chris Pratt and has been married to fellow actor Seth Gabel since 2006. They have 2 kids. Her big breakout role was in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village in 2004, and she replaced Rachel Lefevre as the vampire Victoria in Twilight: Eclipse.
Jessica is the one who starred in The Help and Dark Phoenix. She’s also in the upcoming sequel to It. She married an Italian fashion exec, Gian Luca Passi de Prepusulo, 2 years ago, and they have one child. In her relatively short career–Jessica’s first major film role was in 2008–she’s racked up multiple Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.
Both actresses attended prestigious colleges in New York–Bryce went to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, while Jessica studied at Julliard.
Bryce and Jessica costarred in The Help, and she recalls going to a table read for the film and being struck by their similarities in person. The actresses rushed to the mirror and compared their features, and it was all true–they could be twins. Jessica praised Bryce, saying that the other actress was taller and had a more defined nose.
“I see it as a compliment,” Jessica said. “I think she’s fabulous.”
Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Famous redheads, who look almost exactly alike…can we get a Parent Trap sequel starring Bryce and Jessica?
